In this article, the author attempts to demonstrate the socio-production status of state farms using the Arctic and northern regions of the Yakut ASSR as an example. The indicators used were the reporting data of the Ministry of Agriculture for 1981-1985. Based on natural and economic zoning by three specialization groups, the following data were analyzed: the number of state farm employees, including those permanently employed in agricultural production, including livestock farming for 1981-1985; expenditure of the state farm wage fund and the average gross output for 1981-1985; the standard workload per livestock worker in domestic reindeer herding, herd horse breeding, cattle breeding and their average annual salary for 1982-1983. Preliminary results of a comparison of selected indicators and their interpretation demonstrate real statistical data that, after testing, could become one of the indicators for characterizing the social characteristics of the development of traditional economies in the Arctic and northern regions of the Yakut ASSR during the last decade of socialism.
